8. Zakynthos, Greece

All what the Greeks and various invaders built on Zakynthos over the past centuries, cannot for a moment be comparable with what nature has given to this island.

Although the landscapes of Corfu, Lefkada and Kefalonia are also beautiful, Zakynthos is still a real diamond of Ionian islands. Zakynthos is the southernmost island of this island group. Laganas bay is almost nine kilometers long, known as a protected natural park – sea turtles reserve. They (a really large number of them) from June to September come out at night on the beach in the bay, lay their eggs there and bury them in the sand, and later that turtle army rushes back into the sea – Ionian and Mediterranean, but who knows where else.
