7. Crete, Greece

This amazing island is fifth largest in the Mediterranean, and one of the most popular destinations in Greece. 15 percent of all arrivals in the country come through the ports and airports in the capital Heraklion.

Here you will find numerous beaches, bays and peninsulas on a thousand kilometers long coast, especially on the north, while on the south side of the island you may still find undiscovered parts of discontinuous fields of watermelon or orange trees among other interesting things. Furthermore, Crete is known as the ‘Island of Gods’, the place where Zeus was born, the supreme deity of ancient Greek, as well as the legend of the Minotaur, a mythical creature that lived in the maze.
