4. Algarve, Portugal
The long sandy beach of yellowish sand, surrounded with hollowed out, ocher-colored limestone rocks prone to erosion is a trademark of the Algarve and its resorts. Although still in the cold Atlantic, this part of the sea is still significantly warmer than in the north of Portugal, but slightly cooler than the Mediterranean Sea.
This area extends over a length of about 150 kilometers. The capital area of the Algarve is Faro, but the biggest tourist centers are located along the coast. The most famous tourist place – Albufeira, during the summer season is visited by a large number of tourists, mostly English for whom Portugal is fairly inexpensive and air closest making it ideal option for summer vacation. It is simply beautiful and affordable.
