18.Lagoons of Cañada del Hoya

Don’t worry. Jumping into this pink water won’t burn layers of skin off. The color is the effect of bacteria in the water, which occasionally flares up and temporarily alters the look of this sinkhole. The small sinkhole, or torca, is actually part of the Lagoons of Cañada del Hoya in Spain, and is one of seven in total. Each lagoon varies in bacterial composition and can vary in color for days at a time. The pink lagoon above is dubbed “The Tortoise.”
While this next sinkhole wasn’t naturally made, it does create a gorgeous scene when viewed from above.
