9. Dunmore Pineapple (Stirlingshire, Scotland)
This is a purely decorative building, what you’d call a folly. It’s also rightly called ‘the most bizarre building” in Scotland. I mean, why would anyone have a building shaped like a Pineapple, in Scotland of all places. And it was built in the middle of the 18th century, so we know for sure it’s not some wacky tribute to Sponge Bob. The Pineapple is a work of art that’s been crafted with great care. It’s made of stone, and each individual lead and detail of the pineapple is carved in a way that prevents water from accumulating, so that the building doesn’t get damaged in the colder months, when the temperatures are below freezing.
