The Pharoah & The Vizier
One of the most fascinating things about the Diary of Merer is that it revealed a lot of important information surrounding the reign of the king (2,600 B.C.), Pharaoh Khufu. His half-brother, “the noble Ankh-haf” was also his Vizier and is confirmed to have overseen the construction of the Great Pyramid. The text suggests that it was Khufu himself who instructed engineers to adorn the Pyramid, his soon-to-be tomb, with Tura limestone. But it was somebody else who helped to realize Tallet’s dream…
