You may think that the main reason that the Pyramids of Giza were built so close to the Nile was because of it makes sense for any civilization to be close to a water source. However, it is believed that there was actually a much more spiritual reasoning behind its location. The Pyramids of Giza are located on the west bank of the Nile because it is exactly where the sun sets. This was supposed to symbolize the realm of the dead.
