Spend an afternoon in nearby Sintra if the idea of exploring a fairytale 19th century hilltop town is your thing. It’s forested terrain is studded with pastel coloured villas and majestic palaces. Seek out the magical stone towers, mystifying wells and moss covered grottos of the enchanting gardens of the Quinta da Regaleira which will leave you feeling like you’ve stepped into an Escher painting.
